I live in Sheffield and spend most of my time 'making things' within what most people would generally define as 'art'. I avoid labels as I produce work either on a whim or where my thoughts, interests or investigations take me. Therefore you will see examples of ceramics, printmaking and photography on this website.
I tend to work on parallel 'projects' and some of these are reflected on the pages here - but I have by no means shown all of them. One of these projects is called Shorelines and is being produced as a response to regular visits to the UK coastline. This incorporates photography and mono printing using a relief printing press and hopefully will be finished at the end of 2023.
For the past 10 years, I have had a 'holiday home' in Kafountine which is a coastal village in the Casamance region of Senegal. I usually spend the harshest UK winter months there. In 2013, I was involved with a group of local artists and set up Kafountine Lino Printing. This was a social enterprise aimed at helping provide an outlet for the artists through the medium of Lino printing. There is now a shop/gallery in the village and you can see a short film made in 2016 here.I am currently working with one of the artists - Dembo Sane´, on a new project called Diola. There is a website here.
The Dripping Tap page includes photographs taken in my garden in Kafountine and East Side Stories by contrast, are photographs taken in Sheffield. Edges is another themed photographic project based on my walks on the local Derbyshire Peak District Millstone Edges.
I am now increasingly working with clay as I now have a kiln installed in my workshop. I have posted some images on the ceramics page and these will be added to as my ideas and experience of making with clay develops.
