Land

I like to survey the landscape from high places and often visit the gritstone edges in the Derbyshire Peak District close to where I live. If I visit a city, I aways head for the highest viewpoint - the Shard in London, the TV tower in Berlin, the Empire State Building in New York City.

I have always been fascinated by aerial views and the introduction of Google Earth in recent years allows us to 'fly' over the landscape at any height anywhere in the world. I spend hours making imaginary journeys in this way - the colours of the desert in Mauritania or the blue variations of tropical coast lines.

The series 'Land' draws from these real and imagined journeys.
