Please visit the site at: www.kafountinelinoprinting.com using the link button above - where you can see the fantastic prints made by the artists I work with in the village of Kafountine in the Casamance region of Senegal.
I have a cabin in my garden which I use as a studio for printing. I use a Hawthorn press for most of my work. I started making lino prints when I began working with the artists in Senegal. Once I had taught them how to make lino prints, I thought I ought to do some work of my own and have been experimenting with various methods over the past four years - mainly in order to understand the processes involved - including reduction printing.
The first set of images I made were of West African musicians as I felt that the artists in Kafountine would relate to these - I used these as my examples when teaching them the lino printing process.

The second set of prints were based on cycling and my first experiments with reduction printing using only black and white inks.... (2012 - 2016)
More monochrome prints below - some based upon imagery in Kafountine... (2012 - 2016)
I then worked on a series of Robots - my first encounter with colour reduction printing.... (2016)
