This body of work was produced between the summers of 2017 and 2018. The prints are experimental monoprints in that they utilise lino blocks as a base for layers of ink mainly applied with a roller although they are not traditional lino prints as the blocks have not been worked with a cutting tool. Therefore, each print is unique or part of a variable edition. Although I mainly took inspiration from my experience in visiting various places, I always worked without an end product in mind, allowing the prints to evolve through a combination of over printing and sometimes scraping back to reveal previous layers.
65 prints from the full body of work was selected for the exhibition in the Art House, Sheffield, held between the 2-18th October 2018. This coincided with my 65th birthday - hence 65 monoprints.
The work is thematic based upon inspiration and ideas from visiting various places. These include Egypt, Iceland, Kafountine, Gardens, Tuol Sleng in Cambodia, Coast and Sea, Sun and Moon, Stone.
